I was somewhat prepared for our 12 day trip to Costa Rica last July by having lived in Southern California since 1983, but I’m still a Chicago boy at heart and I was transfixed by the non-midwestern beauty of it all. We began on the Carribean cost in the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, from there we drove to Volcano Arenal and Monteverde in mid-country. Finally, we drove to and spent the last 4 days in the Manuel Antonio manuelantonio-coastNational Park on the middle Pacific Coast. Lots of pictures in the Gallery.

During the coming year this site will continue to change and evolve as I post more content and integrate the site more and more with other projects. I am always changing or putting up new photos in the existing galleries and creating new ones. The random gallery image is always a surprise; and other content new rss-generated content, current philosophy news, info on knowing what there is to look at in tonight’s sky, changing book recs, and, now and then, new blog entries find their way into this site every day. So I hope you’ll keep coming back. You never know what might show up, or when.

Right now there is no benefit to registering and logging-in. You can access all the pages in this site without logging in. The content in the media players you might come across is free and available for anyone to enjoy. But when I do begin offering original downloadable content, available only to registered visitors, no worries, registration will be free and painless. Your information will not be shared with anyone or anything (digital or analog).

Planned downloadable content includes original sound and spoken word recordings, streaming video, flash movies and slide shows, software tutorials, astronomy how-to’s, original 3D-wallpapers, and podcasts.

The internet was exciting when it first entered our lives in the mid 90’s. But who knew it would come to dominate and penetrate our lives and culture so completely. I use this digital cyber workspace for fun, entertainment, blogging, and staying in touch with family, friends and collegues. I also maintain websites for two high schools and the university courses I teach. But those sites are work interesting work, even fun work at times but still, they are work. This site is not work. I hope you find something fun, useful, or interesting while you are here.
